Louis G. Nice Jr., 50, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Ohio State University.

Louis was born in Wheeling, WV, to Louise Nice Sr. and Lesley Mitchem. He never spend a day of his life not trying to help others in need, from family and friends to a stranger on the street. In 1990, he received the Carnegie Hero Medal. Over 20 years ago, he saved two children from a burning house. Louis gave his all to the community and his family.

He was a 'Jack of all Trades', and worked many years as a professional roofer. Although Louis enjoyed giving back and helping, he cherished the time he had with his family, especially his grandchild. He made sure every day to show them how much he adored them, by taking them fishing, swimming and playing games.

Louis will be missed by many people, including, his loving wife, of 26 years, Linda 'Joyce' (Cottrill) Nice; his step-mother, Casey Nice; six children, Eric (Ashley) Cottrill, Jason Cottrill, Amy Cottrill, Chad Cottrill, Luke Nice and Alex Nice; one brother, Shawn Nice; one step brother, Stacy Moore; one step-sister, Dawnette Underhill; seven grandchildren, Brody, Landon, Evan and Kohen Cottrill and Barzillai, Ozias, and Eliel Surajbally; several aunt and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

In addition to this fundraiser, the family will hold a Spaghetti Supper on February 25, 2018 from 11 am to 6 pm, at the Lansing Senior Center, 68583 Scott Rd., Lansing, OH 43934.
