In Loving Memory of Gary Vedder
Fund Type: Family SupportNew Port Richey, FL
Gary was born on May 22, 1955 in Norwich, NY to Merle and Betty Vedder. He spent his youth growing up on a dairy farm. He came to Florida in 1971 as a teenager when his family relocated. He spent his working years as a carpenter, a trade he learned from his father. Gary and his brother owned their own carpentry business for many years. He was a very skilled woodworker. In 1986, Gary married the love of his life, Jodi.
Gary was a shy, quiet man who loved classic 70's rock like Neil Young and Creedence Clearwater Revival. He was a wonderful father and had a great sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman. Gary backpacked to Estes Park, CO and explored the Rockies. In the mid-80's summers, they'd spend nearly every weekend together on Lake Tarpon fishing and boating. Gary also loved to hunt with his sons. He took yearly trips to Georgia during hunting season and always competed with his friends for who could bring home the best. There was one-year Gary took down a 10-point buck, which earned him the nickname 'The Great White Hunter'. His daughter had it printed on a t-shirt for Christmas and the name stuck.
Tragedy struck in mid-March when Gary had a seizure. He was rushed to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point. He had an internal infection that had begun to affect his organs. He was septic. Things were grim for several weeks, but then he started to improve. Gary was a strong man and was on the mend. The day that he was going to be released from the hospital, without any warning, he suddenly passed away. His body just could not take the stress the 47 days in the hospital had put on it.
Gary's family is reeling in the wake of this tragedy. If you feel led to help them in some way, this is the best way to show your support and love. No amount is too small, and each contribution is appreciated beyond words. Please help Jodi and their children get through this terrible, sudden loss. Thank you in advance for your kind generosity.
