In Memory of Billy P. Joyner
Fund Type: Family SupportNewport News, VA
Fundraiser ends on June 08, 2019
On May 3, 2019 the world got a little darker for the family of Billy Paul Joyner and heaven is now brilliantly lit with Billy's halo. Billy was 76 when he passed away in the arms of everyone he loved. His smile and his dance will be greatly missed, and his contagious laughter was a happy sound that now echoes in the timeless halls of his family's memories. His family remembers his sincerity, his kindness and his never-ending love for people, animals and his family.
Billy Joyner was a talented ballroom dancer ' he and his stunning wife owned the Douglas High School of Dancing in Hampton together where they were often seen laughing, smiling and enjoying life. His most memorable dance was the shimmy at his daughter Kelly Cofield's wedding and his favorite dance was the jive or foxtrot.
Billy loved a lot of things but chiefly his wife and family ' his most cherished memory is marrying his beautiful wife Suzanne at the age of 17. A passion that he and his wife both shared was a love for baseball and the Yankees baseball team. His favorite holiday and the favored holiday of his family was Christmas. Billy was fond of saying 'my life is my family' and for Christmas that was his favorite gift ' family gathered together. Christmas this year will be one laugh, one smile short. His memory will live in the smiles of his family, in the dance of his wife Suzanne Joyner and in the abundance of love in the hearts of all his family. Billy was a staple in his family's life as family was the most important in one's life to him. He danced in and he danced out of everyone's lives and made us all better for knowing him and for loving him. Despite this somber occasion, Billy was a silly man full of jokes and laughter. Even in the hardest times, Billy was the one to go to for a hug and laughter. His favorite meal was oatmeal in the most recent weeks and he often told his children, 'Fill it up - not half-way, all the way!' followed by a two-finger motion to indicate 'fill it up!' and laughs. Billy's favorite vacations were to Nag's Head because he was often surrounded by his adoring family and many of his 'other children.' They never went to Nag's Head without a truck-load of kids.
When Billy wasn't dancing away, he was feeding the neighborhood racoons, cats, birds and his puppy Abigail with his loving wife Suzanne. Billy was proud to be a member of Bremond Lodge #241 as a 32nd degree Master Mason and Scottish Right Temple.
In lieu of flowers, the Joyner family asks for assistance with final and medical expenses as well as support for his wife Suzanne and their puppy. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
