In Loving Memory: Supporting the Legacy of Adrian Villarreal

We come together today to honor the life and memory of Adrian Villarreal, affectionately known as AJ, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his passing on August 25, 2023, in Myrtle Beach, SC, at the age of 36.

Born on March 4, 1987, in Haskell, Texas, AJ brought joy and laughter into the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a devoted father, cherishing his children above all else. His daughters, Nashala Villarreal of Asheville, NC, and Heaven Villarreal of Saluda, NC, along with his sons, Adrian (Hayden) Villarreal of Mars Hill, NC, and Amon Villarreal of Forest City, NC, held a special place in his heart. AJ's excitement for becoming a grandfather was palpable as he anticipated the arrival of his first grandchild, Evangeline Skye Villarreal.

AJ's presence will be deeply missed by his father, Adrian Villarreal Sr., and grandmother, Guadalupe Salinas. He also leaves behind his sisters, Esmarelda Villarreal, Brittnie Villarreal, Natasha Villarreal and Aliyah Ortiz as well as his brother, Saul "Ricco" Hinson. His uncles, Angel Camacho and Fabian Serna, and aunts, Elisa Serna, Rosie Gonzalez, Diana Serna, and Mary Alicia Serrato, share in the grief over his untimely departure. Among his loved ones, AJ had a strong bond with his favorite uncle, Chuco Sanchez.

As we struggle with the profound loss of AJ, we seek solace by coming together to create a lasting tribute in his memory. In honor of his life, we have chosen to establish a charitable fund in collaboration with Forest Lawn Funeral Home. This fund will support various initiatives aimed at helping families who have experienced similar heartbreaking losses. By contributing to this cause, we hope to bring comfort and assistance to those who truly need it.
Services for our dear departed are still being finalized at this time, and we will provide further details as they become available. The circumstances surrounding AJ's passing were tragically violent. He succumbed to injuries sustained after suffering a gunshot wound, and his death is being investigated as a homicide by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
