Fund Type: Memorial Donations

Virginia Beach, VA

Fundraiser ends on July 26, 2017

To support a cause dear to the family of Virginia Caputo.

Virginia Dare Perry Caputo, 86, has gone to be with the Lord and her husband, Jimmie. Virginia passed away peacefully at a nursing home surrounded by family and the loving staff who cared for her. Virginia was the daughter of the late Alvertie and Calsie Dona Perry. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, James Elwood Caputo, Jr., and son, James Elwood Caputo, III, five sisters, and one brother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Caputo Barlow and her husband Albert; son, Tony Caputo and his wife Barbara; daughter Edna Caputo Warner; and son Richard Ray Caputo and his wife Margaret; Twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Louise Miller of Montana; and many nieces and nephews who enjoyed their fishing trips with Uncle Jimmie and Aunt Gin.

Mrs. Caputo loved her family, fishing, playing cards, and watching John Wayne movies.

In accordance with the wishes of the family, private services will be held at a later date. The Altmeyer Funeral Home-Chesapeake Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking HERE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer. Established in 1913, the society is organized into eleven geographical divisions of both medical and lay volunteers operating in more than 900 offices throughout the United States. Funds contributed to this memorial will go on to help others prevent and cure this terrible group of illnesses. Virginia was known to all as 'Grandma' at the Sentara Nursing Center in Barco, North Carolina, and enjoyed the center of attention status she was given. The family would like to acknowledge the superb care she received there, especially the loving attention given by her grand-daughter, Gabrielle Caputo, who is employed at the nursing center.
