Fundraiser ends on August 04, 2017
Amanda Myers, 38, of Richmond, VA, passed away on July 1, 2017. She was one of Colleen Hodge's seven children and was universally beloved by them all as well as by her six nieces and nephews. In fact, 'Manda' was loved by almost everyone who ever met her, in part due to her child-like innocence and a intense happiness that she radiated from within.
As a young girl, Manda's passion for cars first made her stand out. She could tell you the make and model of a vehicle from a distance and enjoyed car magazines. This love continued into adulthood when she would accompany her sisters' in their cars and ask to use the touch screens to find her favorite country music songs on the radio.
Manda also loved all things purple. She asked for little in life but often kept an eye out for little purple and blue vases. She also enjoyed seashells which she picked up while spending time in the sunshine on the beach or by the water. She loved to be outdoors and ride her bicycle. Those close to her also knew that Manda colored beautifully. She always found a way to make sense of the world and make beautiful compositions in her drawings and paintings. You would often find hearts in her works as though her big heart was coming out in her work.
Colleen openly admits being something of a cat lady but her cats seemed to love Manda best. Manda would even give them 'second' names. And though Manda would not marry or have her own children, she delighted in being an aunt--sometimes being even more excited to see her nephews or nieces than her own siblings. Sometimes she was bossy, sometimes she was a co-conspirator, always she brought love.
To know Manda was to have a friend--to feel as though you were giving her a gift just by being in her presence. She was always so happy and full of light that it is devastating to think of how life for those who loved her best will continue. But continue it must and, for that, we are aking for your help for her family. In the wake of this tremendous loss, there will be expenses, both foreseen and unexpected, that the family will need to face. At this difficult time, we would ask that if Amanda made a difference in your life, you would help us continue her legacy of light and joy by easing those hardships for the family.
