Fundraiser ends on September 08, 2017
Jean Vargas passed away on August 6, 2017. Jean worked at St. Joseph's School cafeteria for many years until it closed and she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bridgeport. Jean had several names given to her throughout her hard working life, one of which is 'THE SKATING LADY' as she taught many kids in the valley how to roller skate and skated right along with them at St. Joseph's Roller Skating Rink in Wolfhurst (Bridgeport) which she voluntarily ran for over 40 years and loved every minute of it.
Her love of volunteering didn't stop there; another name she was given was 'THE LADY DRUMMER' because Jean and a few of her talented friends started a group called THE HEARTLAND DIXIES who went around nursing homes and hospitals playing 'oldies'music for patients.
Jean had yet another name 'JACK OF ALL TRADES' as she had hidden talents, she could build a rock wall in the back yard or carry bricks one at a time to build a driveway then go right in the house to cook and bake beyond belief.
But the greatest name she loved the most was 'NUNNY' that was given to her by her only grandson, Austin Watkins who was her sidekick and the absolute love of her life.
After all of her loves above she still had a little more to give her 4 legged friends whom she loved and they gave her such love back as they were either rescued or dropped off. To Honor Jeans life the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bridgeport High School. We thank you in advance for all your support during this difficult time.
