Memorial contributions in honor of Carol Fabrizio
Fund Type: Memorial Donations
Moundsville, WVFundraiser ends on May 21, 2018
Carol Fabrizio passed away April 18, 2018. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. When she was younger she was a member, for a short while, of the Carmelite Nuns.
The Carmelites first arrived to America in 1790, and in the early 1900's, Bishop Patrick Donahue requested the Carmelite sisters move from Baltimore to Wheeling. After initially settling in the Fulton area, the sisters moved to the hillside where the Mount Carmel Monastery would be constructed in 1917. The sisters would live at the Monestary for a year before taking their vows and understood the only way to accept the public donation was by turn-wheel, to conceal their identity. The numbers declined in the late 1960's and by the early '70s the Carmelites had to search for a new home. In 1975 the Mount was sold to private ownership. The remaining Carmelite sisters reside in PA.
Carol believed in what the Carmelites did for this community and their faith. Please help to honor her life with memorial contributions made to the Carmelite Nuns. No amount is too small, and every bit is appreciated.
