Mrs. Burden was born in Hertford County on October 12, 1923, a daughter of the late Carroll J. and Joanna Kiff Lowe.  Margaret worked as an Administrative Assistant for the American Red Cross Headquarters.  She was a loving, devoted wife and mother who enjoyed being much involved in her children's school and sports activities in Annandale, VA.  She and her late husband, Wingate Rice Burden, Sr., were faithful, active members of First Baptist Church of Annandale until moving to Aulander where they became active in Aulander Baptist Church, with her serving as secretary of the Dorcas Sunday School Class for many years, along with various other church activities.  Besides church, Margaret enjoyed working in her yard, and was very active in community activities including being a former member of the Aulander Civic League, the NC State Society of D.C. and was a Cub Scout Leader for many years.  Mrs. Burden was a special lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
