Memorial Gifts for Kathleen Carawan
Fund Type: Memorial Donations
Chesapeake, VAFundraiser ends on August 25, 2016
Kathleen S. Carawan (Dolly), 83, beloved wife of 63 years to the late Rona B Carawan, Jr. was received in the arms of our Heavenly Father, Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was born in the Isle of Wight to the late Carroll Wesley Sawyer and the late Kathleen Hatfield Perry.
Dolly was an active member of Portlock United Methodist Church. The two most important things to her was the Lord and her family. She brought joy, love, and laughter to everyone she touched, she was always ready to help others, she never forgot a birthday, and she loved to tell her jokes. Her interests were varied; she owned a hair salon, worked as a secretary, a realtor, quilter, and she loved making ceramic dolls.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Kristin and Keith, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Rona B. Carawan (Susan) of Franklin, VA; Marvin L. Carawan (Linda) of Chesapeake; Keith W. Carawan of Chesapeake; Teresa C. Joyner (Howard) of Chesapeake; her grandchildren Teri (Peyt), Shannon, Brandon (Danielle), Marvin Jr. 'Bubba' (Laurie), Aislyn (Shane), Clint (Amber), Matthew, Shannon, Patrick (Amber), and Emily; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Julia, Jenna, Jayden, Jillian, Madie, Brodie, Jackson, Taylor, Parker, Colby, Carter, Camryn, Cara, Catie, Colton, Corrie, Caroline, Cade, Katie, Addison, and Fiona; brother George W. Hosking (Jorene) of Chesapeake; and sister Charlotte Lassiter (Pete) of Chesapeake; and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Chesapeake Chapel (929 Battlefield Blvd S.). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Portlock United Methodist Church (2615 Bainbridge Rd. Chesapeake). The burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
