In Loving Memory of Lee Gow Memorials May Be Made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

Shirley 'Lee' Gow, 90, of Hendersonville passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at Spring Arbor East in Laurel Park, NC. Born in Newark, NJ, Lee was a daughter of the late Philip and Faye Carmel. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Charles F. Roth, Jr.; son, Charles F. Roth III; daughter, Collette F. Roth; and her brother, Herbert Carmel.

Lee was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. After raising her children, Lee obtained an Associates Degree in Social Work and volunteered her time at several psychiatric hospitals in Chicago. She was a lifelong volunteer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Survivors include her loving husband, Peter W. Gow and his son, Peter W. Gow, Jr.; her son, Timothy Roth; her daughters, Barbara Roth (David Zavattero) and Stacy Roth; her grandson, Aaron Fennell; her brother, Albert Carmel; and her aunt, Lillian Rivera.

A memorial service will be held at 11am Monday, August 29, 2016 in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 204 Sixth Ave. West, Hendersonville. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held in Chicago, IL. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
