Our family had an extraordinary experience with the services of Lower Cape Fear Hospice regarding the recent passing of our dad, Glenn R. Lockwood.
To give you a sense of dad...he was a wonderful father and devoted husband to his three children, wife and many furry family members. Dad hung on to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary with mom. A Korean war veteran in the U.S. Army, he had responsibility to ensure the sound mechanics of helicopters flying in to pick up the wounded. He was an avid reader and bird watcher who loved deep sea fishing and deer hunting. A local businessman, he ran his own automotive service company for about 50 years. His contributed to his community through the Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club.
After nearly a year in a nursing home, and mom with him every day,his health declined rapidly, and hospice was called in. A hospice nurse and nurse's aide provided extraordinary care to dad. Suddenly, he took a turn for the worse and was transported to the hospice center; he passed peacefully in his sleep three hours later with mom and my sister at his side.
The kindness of the hospice staff has tremendously helped our family in these difficult days. We never had to worry about dad's care. The love and dignity from all of the hospice staff to our family and dad gave us such comfort. For this, we are forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, we request our family and friends to make a donation to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in dad's name.
His loving daughters Nancy and Jeannie, his son Grant, and wife Marion.
