Born on April 12, 1945, in Dallas, WV, Charles exemplified the true meaning of patriotism, selflessness and kindness. He made his life’s work serving in the United States Army for 28 and a half years, reaching the rank of Command Sergeant Major before he retired.
While serving in Germany, Charles met and married the love of his life Helge. Helge was born in Lampertheim, Germany on October 26, 1943. At the age of 20 Helge was swept off her feet by a US Army soldier, Charles Terrill and for the next 57 years she was right by Charles side, as a very devoted Army wife. Although Helge was a native of Germany and proud of her heritage, she studied hard and on March 9, 1978 in Springfield, MO she very proudly became an American Citizen. Helge passed away in Wheeling, WV on September 23, 2022.

Today, we come together to celebrate their lives by raising funds for a cause that was dear to their hearts, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Charles and Helge believed in the power of compassion and the importance of helping those in need. They understood that every child deserves a chance at a healthy and happy life, regardless of their circumstances.
