Dennis Terrell Fernando
April 26, 1961
Dennis, Deet, Bear, 3 Bears, Wahoo Fernando... now knows the way and went to be with the Creator on May 6, 2020 at the age of 59.
Dennis was born to Patricia “Gale” and Cresencio “Chico” Fernando in Portsmouth Naval Hospital Va. As a child Dennis excelled at school, football, motor cross racing, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, foosball, and roller skating competitive speed skating. He even made the local paper for starting the 1st and only Skateboard Team at Deep Creek High School. Dennis graduated with honors, later worked many years at Discount Auto Sounds installing sounds systems later using those skills to become an excellent electrician.
Dennis had a passion for music, camping at Music Festivals and supported many local bands and bars. He introduced me to Pantera; we street skated with Phil on the Va. Beach Strip before they were even famous. I followed my big brother like a puppy; he was my Hero, my biggest cheerleader. He was a free spirit that loved nature and Mother Earth almost as much as he loved his friends and family.
He lit up everyplace he went. Dennis was a Rock Star without a band!
Starting at a young age he loved the ladies! I can’t list all the ladies that loved him! He attracted more ladies than a Black Friday Sale at a store! On a Breezy afternoon in 1994 a beautiful redheaded Earth Angel named Rachael captured his heart; they were only together for 5 years, but they brought an amazing son into this world named Ari. Through the trials and tribulations of Dennis’s life he knew that the decisions he made caused him to miss out and he was trying to be in his son’s life before he left this earth. He would always tell me how much he loved them; including the love he had for me and my 3 kids: Brittany, Corey, and Melia, and how proud he was of all of us.
To say I hurt and miss my brother and our bond doesn’t even begin to describe my pain. Knowing that he loved the Creator and is now out of pain and shredding waves or on a skateboard brings me so much peace and joy.
Please keep us all in your prayers; I have found a way to finally bring my brother home.
