Annie was born on March 8, 1936 to Rob Roy King and Ruth Pierce King in Hertford County, NC. She spent 30 years before retiring as a unit secretary at Roanoke Chowan Hospital. Annie had a sweet smile and was very compassionate and enjoyed taking care of others even doing private duty after retirement. She loved gardening, working in her flowers, and spending time with her family. Annie was known to many as a prankster, always telling a joke and loved to laugh as she did so. Annie's pride and joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was loved and cherished by her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, Annie was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Rountree, a granddaughter, Samantha Terry, a brother, Sidney King, and sisters; Joyce Ogle, and Betty Jean Vaughan, and sister-in-law, Paige King.
 
Annie is survived by her beloved husband, Horace, three daughters, Peggy Johnson of Ahoskie, Janet Brickhouse of Ahoskie, and Debbie Peele and husband Al of Gates County, NC; a son, Jerry Castelloe and wife Wanda of Ahoskie, NC; six grandsons, Archie Johnson and wife Nikki, Brian Johnson and wife Bobbi, Christopher Johnson and wife Ashley, Carl Brickhouse and wife Pam, Jerry Wayne Castelloe and wife Ally, Joe Stallings and wife Emily; seven granddaughters, Stephanie Johnson and husband David, Stacie Brickhouse, Christy Pearce and husband Scott, Annie Terry, Leigh Anne Mercer and husband Dustin, Melissa Baines, and Natalie Layden and husband Brian; 28 great grandchildren; Lindsey, Emily, B.J., Tyler, Devin, Tucker, Naomi, Caesey, Brandon, Brooke, Brandon, Gavin, Allison, Savannah, T.J., Matthew, Richard, Emily, Emma, Jackson,Sam, A.J., Lana, Kaila, Sophia, MyaLynn, Andrew Layden, and Carly Layden;  5 great-great grandchildren, Lillly, Cameron, Marleigh, Liam, Declan; two brothers, Rob Roy King, Jr. and wife Pat of Chesapeake, VA, and Howard King and wife Joyce Cooke of Millennium, NC; sister, Alice Bazemore and husband Shelby of Ahoskie. Also surviving are numerous special nieces and nephews that would affectionately call her Nana as she felt like a grandma to them.
