In Loving Memory of Ashton "Ash" Eugene Allen

shton “Ash” Eugene Allen, 44, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Virginia Beach General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 9, 1978, to Ronald Allen and Barbara McCullough in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Churchland High School and completed his Associates Degree in Information Systems Technology at Tidewater Community College.

For many years Ash was immersed in the cooking world, working at several different restaurants and was also a cook at Virginia Beach General Hospital for 8 years.

Ashton met Dawn Frederick, the love of his life while working at Baxter’s Sports Bar in Norfolk, VA. Ashton and Dawn married on September 19, 2009. They became members of New Life Church shortly thereafter. Two children were born to their union, Ashton Jr. and Bryce. Ash is also, the father of Sarai White. Ash was a loving and dedicated father. He taught his boys how to read, write, play basketball, swim and fish. Trips to the cabin were among his favorite along with spending long hours at the beach.

Ash was a technology wizard at heart. Always able to fix any electronic issue you had, no matter how big or small. He was a die-hard Cowboys fan, loved attending games and watching countless hours of football and basketball. Grilling outside and cooking was his passion. He was the best chef in the home and cooked many family meals. He was kind, gentle, funny, caring and will be dearly missed by his loved ones, and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Dawn Allen and their two boys: Ashton Jr. and Bryce. Daughter, Sarai White. His father, Ronald (Trudy) Allen; stepfather, Don Cotton; Brother Aaron (Trina) Allen. Sisters: Renita Allen; Erika Anderson; Sonya Anderson. Aunts: Nancy (Jeff) Jones; Ruth “Cookie” McCullough-Hood; Opal Stevenson; Kathy “Kitty” McCullough; Joyce Strickland. Uncles: Lawrence (Renee) Allen; Douglas (Mary) Allen; Floyd (Mae) McCullough; James “Sonny” McCullough. Along with countless loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ashton is predeceased by his grandparents: Garner Ray; Esther McCullough; Mercy “M.D.” Allen Sr.; Honolulu Allen. Mother, Barbara Cotton. Aunts: Johnnye Allen-Warren, Betty McCullough-White; Doriece “Sky” McCullough. Uncles: Mercy “M.D.” Allen Jr., Larry Allen; Timothy Allen; Roy Allen; Jack McCullough, George McCullough, Leroy McCullough, Garner Ray McCullough Jr.; Sanford “S.L.” Jones.
