Brenda Smith Hill, aged 81 of South Street, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Hill was born on January 29, 1941 to Willie E. Smith and Jessie W. Smith in Ahoskie, NC. Brenda was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She was a skilled gardener, enjoyed reading, puzzles, and spending time with loved ones on the shores of the Outer Banks, N.C. She was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church for many years.  Brenda was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James P. Hill, her sister, Evelyn Smith Jernigan, and her beloved nephew, Garrett Jernigan, who also entered eternal rest on the same day as Brenda.

Left to cherish Brenda's memory is her daughter, Julie Hill of Nags Head; granddaughter, Jessica Hope Felton of Long Beach, NY; grandson, William Felton of Wilmington, NC; nephew, Richard Jernigan and wife Carla of Raleigh, NC; wife of Garrett Jernigan, Lynn Cominsky of Petaluma, CA; her gentle and loyal dog, Heidi; and her lifelong friends, Sandra Evans, and Elaine White.

The Hill family extends heartfelt gratitude for the love and care shown to Mrs. Hill over the past year by Lynn Reynolds, Sonya Taylor and Lillie Steele.
