In Memory of George Rambo

Fund Type: Memorial Donations

Williamsburg, VA

Fundraiser ends on December 04, 2022

In loving memory of George Rambo to benefit Williamsburg Christian Academy.

George Earle Rambo, 80, died peacefully at his home on Monday, October 31, 2022. The son of Earle Kensington Rambo and Eberle Burge Rambo, George grew up in India, Lebanon, and graduated from Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone.

After graduating from Georgia Tech, he began his career at NASA and married his sweetheart, Barbara Bass. Following a sabbatical to complete his PhD at Virginia Tech, he taught college physics in Nebraska where his children, Robert and Susan, were born. Most of his career was spent at Babcock and Wilcox in Lynchburg, Virginia where he supervised the installation of nuclear reactors in the northeast and earned a patent for a reactor overheat safety valve. He also worked for a time at Dominion Virginia Power, specializing in reactor power upgrades.

Following the death of Barbara, he retired and occupied his time designing and building his home in the Governor’s Land subdivision of Williamsburg, making a name for himself as a man who took entirely too long to build his unusual home. After being widowed for a decade, he met his match on eHarmony and for seventeen years, he and Dr. Pamela Turner Rambo enjoyed decorating his colonial architectural creation and hosting parties and prayer groups.

George leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Pamela, his children Robert E. Rambo and Susan R. Cox (Mike) , grandchildren Jonathan, Mallory, and Nicholas Rambo, Steven Cox and Nicole Cox, great grandchildren Rylan, Autumn, and Aiden, and his brothers Robert P. Rambo and James Rambo and their families. He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara, his parents, and his daughter-in-law Melissa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Williamsburg Christian Academy.
