In Memory of Harry Walters
Fund Type: Memorial Donations
Williamsburg, VAFundraiser ends on September 22, 2019
Harry Ned Walters was a man of many accomplishments. He served proudly in the United States Army Special Forces from 1959 to 1963, separating honorably as a 1st Lt.
Mr. Walters was nominated by Ronald Reagan to be Assistant Secretary of the Army and served from 1981 to 1983. After this accomplishment he went on to be the Administrator of the U.S. Veteran's Administration from 1983 to 1986.
One accomplishment he was extremely proud of was that he was educated and graduated in 1959 from the United States Military Academy. During his time at West Point, he was a fullback for Col. Earl “Red” Blaik on the last undefeated Army football team, earning Honorable Mention All American. Harry believed in and embodied the values of Duty, Honor and Country which directly aligned to the mission of The Black Knights. Army football was a lifelong passion for him and he was involved on many levels to ensure the success of the program. The Army A Club seeks to ensure that over 1,000 cadet-athletes have the opportunity and the means to accomplish their goals as scholars, athletes and leaders by instilling and living the values that Harry believed in so greatly. The funds raised here will go specifically to the Army Black Knight football program.
Although his accomplishments are many, the true significance of his life was in his Lord, Jesus Christ, for whom he worked this entire life to give glory. He was active at CrossWalk Church of Williamsburg since it's inception, and half of the funds donated will be given to CrossWalk to honor his strong faith in and love of Jesus, who gets all the glory for the path He laid out before Harry.
Please consider donating in Harry's Memory so that his legacy of pursuing excellence and victory on the fields of friendly strife, and a life lived for the glory of the Lord can be honored.
“Upon the fields of friendly strife are sown the seeds that on other days, on other fields will bear the fruits of victory.” - Douglas MacArthur
