Our Mission

Coastal Authority Care Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes, specifically to provide grants to veterans with service-connected injuries, especially the “invisible wounds” of mild traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress and chronic pain. Our Emerging Therapy Grant program will help pay for cutting-edge medical therapies, such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and neurofeedback, that is not covered by insurance, which provides symptom relief and helps restore quality of life. Our ultimate goal is to help prevent suicide.

Additionally, we may also provide grants to veterans, their spouse or other accompanying family member to help pay for travel and lodging expenses associated with therapy.

Eligible applicants for grants are veterans with service-connected injuries who are traveling to or live in Virginia to receive HBOT or neurotherapy for TBI and/or PTSD.

Jim was our Troop 63 Treasurer for several years. Jim made a lasting impression on the Scouts of Troop 63, sponsored by Francis Asbury UMC. Jim supported his son "Jimbo" and several other Scouts who came to Troop 63 from Cub Scout Pack 406. Jim is particularly proud of "Jimbo" for rising to the highest Scout rank of Eagle Scout. Jimbo became an Eagle Scout on June 15, 2022. It is not surprising that as a result of Jim's encouragement and Jimbo's achievement of Eagle Scout, Troop 63 gained 7 new Eagle Scouts in 2023. Each of the 2023 Eagle Scouts can trace a significant part of their Scouting progress to the encouragement of Jim. On 20 January 5 of the 7 Eagle Scouts will be recognized during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor, and each Eagle Scout will certainly be thinking of the part Jim played in encouraging them to achieve Eagle Scout, and Jim will be missed!
