In Loving Memory of Linwood Eugene Richards

1934-2023

Dear Friends and Community,

We come together today to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable individual, Linwood Eugene Richards. Linwood's journey on this earth was one filled with dedication, hard work, and a deep commitment to his community. Now, we seek your support in raising funds for a charity that will carry on his name and continue his legacy of kindness and compassion.

Linwood's professional career was marked by excellence and unwavering commitment. For several years, he served as a Nuclear Operator at General Electric, leaving an indelible mark on those he worked with. His colleagues admired him for his meticulous approach to every task and his unwavering dedication to his profession. Linwood's work ethic and integrity set an example for all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Linwood found true joy in the simple pleasures of life. In his free time, he excelled in baseball, showcasing his talent and determination on the field. Whether he was playing or simply spectating, Linwood loved watching college games and sports on TV. His love for community extended to attending church singings and gatherings, where his warm presence and joyful spirit brightened the room. Nature brought him solace and peace, and Linwood found great pleasure in gardening. The beauty he cultivated bloomed alongside his kind heart, creating a serene oasis that reflected his gentle soul.

Linwood's commitment to education remained steadfast throughout his life. He graduated from Long Creek in 1953, and his passion for learning continued to inspire those around him. He also served in the National Guard, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.

Linwood is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy, his parents Wallace and Flynn, two brothers, and five sisters. We extend our deepest sympathies to all who have been touched by his loss. Linwood's memory lives on in the hearts of his stepdaughter Sandra, stepson Hugh, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Their lives have been forever enriched by Linwood's love and guidance.

In honor of Linwood's life, we invite you to join us for services to celebrate his remarkable journey. The services will be held on September 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Castle Hayne Church of God, located at 60 Crowatan Rd, Castle Hayne, NC 28429. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Richards Family Cemetery, where he will forever rest in the embrace of his loved ones.

As we gather to remember Linwood, let us also come together to support a cause close to his heart. Donations made in his name will go towards the Castle Hayne Church of God charity, ensuring that Linwood's legacy of love and compassion continues to touch the lives of those in need.

Thank you for your generosity and support during this time of remembrance. Together, we can honor Linwood's memory and make a lasting difference in our community.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Hannah Bonagura
