Michael D. Munson of Chesapeake, Virginia was born September 27, 1962. Michael spent the majority of his life in Virginia, working as a Longshoreman for almost 30 years at the Newport News Shipyard.
Michael hunted and fished, and when you couldn't find him at the beach, searching for shark's teeth and arrowheads, you could certainly find him on a grand adventure outside. Michael was at peace the most when he was outside.
Michael's life changed for the better when his daughter, Angelique Munson, was born. Michael loved taking Angelique to the movies - their favorite movie was "Igor". Angelique and Michael would sit and eat ice-cream and watch "Igor" on repeat until they ran out of ice-cream.
Life had not always been kind to Michael, but he was a man who listened to his heart and it was full of love for his family and friends.
Michael was described as having impeccable style - he went well out of his way to make sure every shoelace, lock of hair, and wrinkle on his shirt was artfully styled (or he didn't go out!).
Michael Munson left this world on June 6, 2021 after 58 years of life, love and exploration. While his journey has come to a close, the journey to healing that his family now takes is just beginning.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable contribution to assist his daughter, Angelique, in staying afloat in such a hard, cruel time.
Any amount is deeply appreciated and on behalf of Altmeyer Funeral Home and the family of Mr. Michael D. Munson, we thank you for your thoughts and wishes, your love and your friendship at this time.
