The Benjamin Burton Memorial Fund

Fund Type: Family Support

Wilmington, NC

Fundraiser ends on September 03, 2022

This fundraiser is to support the family of Benjamin Burton and help ease the burden of laying him to rest.

Benjamin Earl Burton (aka Burt, Yank, Benji), age 83 of Currie, NC, passed away at his home on July 29, 2022.

Burt was born on November 25, 1938 in Clinton, IL to the late Homer and Ruth Alice Burton.

Burt worked at DuPont as a Pipe Fitter for many years after proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. His son, Steven, joined him at DuPont, and that is where they met their dear friend Robert Strickland.

Burt loved to fish and hunt. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved tools and would spend hours in Harbor Freight. He would go home with his tools and invent new gadgets to help make his life easier.

Burt is survived by his partner of 30 years Marilyn Rackley, son Steven Burton (Marie), daughter Heather Cofer (Kursten), his brother Tony Burton, sister Barbara Mayes (Terry), grandchildren Tabitha, Tonya and Tyler Burton, Hunter Burton, and Regan Cofer, great-grandchildren Tucker, Elayna, Sawyer, Kendall and Dawson and his many beloved friends of the V.A., as well as many other extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son Jamie Burton, brothers Charles, Andy and Jack Burton, sisters Elaine Dalton, Phyllis Burton, and Anna Jean Brock, as well as his beloved childhood dog Poochie.

Burt's family is asking for your support to contribute to his memorial fund so that his loved ones will have the resources necessary to deal with some of the financial burdens which they will certainly face in the upcoming weeks and months ahead. If you can give, please click the “give now” button to the right of this text and, if you are unable to contribute, please share so that others may be made aware of this worthy cause.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Jaylyn Morgan, Kay Loflin, Niles Kraus, Catrel Holmes and Denise Killett with Liberty HomeCare & Hospice Services of Wilmington.
