Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends
SPC Antonio Isaac Devante’ Moore passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 while serving his country in Syria.
Antonio's family is eternally grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our community. In loving memory of Antonio his family desires donations to be made to the Hoggard High School Football Athletic Program in his name through this fundraiser.
Antonio was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 4, 1997 to William Bernard and Crystal Eunice Felder Verreen. He was a 2016 graduate of Hoggard High. While in high school he served as a Fire Explorer with the Wilmington Fire Department, and was employed at J. Michael’s Philly Deli as well as Katy’s Bar and Grill as a chef before joining the military.
On behalf of Antonio's family we thank you in advance for your memorial donation in loving memory of Antonio.
You have been brave beyond compare. You have brought a definition of bravery to us, which we could have never comprehended were it not for you. Bravery, to be defined by Websters Dictionary, is Courage. Courage is defined as Valor. Valor is defined as strength of mind in braving danger. The movement from bravery to courage to valor, although, is seamless. There are no pages in between. Those who possess any of these traits possess all of them. None of them can stand alone. Just as no soldier stands alone. They stand together. As one. You are our son, our brother, our uncle, our cousin, our friend; but above all, you are our soldier. You served and protected our country for us. You were steadfast. We only wonder at your conviction. It is not often in life that many may say they followed the path less traveled, but you have. As have the men and women who stood beside you. We now stand beside your family in eternal gratefulness. In facing the unknown you have shown us true courage. You were there for no other reason than for us. In the days, months, and years to follow this may only be a chapter in a history book. But for many of us this will be a lesson. A lesson in bravery, a lesson in courage, and a lesson in valor. A lesson we could not teach, but a lesson we were taught. On this day and time we can only say "thank you Antonio, thank you".
